WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Your dream wedding, expertly captured

I have witnessed countless declarations of love over the years.  Some traditional and others unconventional.  I have met people from all over the world and I love being the person who captures their happy times together, in some of the most beautiful locations in Scotland.

KIND WORDS

Fiona & Alasdair

Andy photographed our wedding on Skye in October 2021. We were extremely pleased with the images he captured despite the challenging conditions of the day – our ceremony was outside and the weather ranged from cloudy and wet to bright sunshine.

We had a great experience with Andy throughout the entire process. He was responsive and clearly communicated what he needed from us to ensure that we got the best shots possible. He is a very friendly guy and worked well with both our guests, videographer and celebrant.

Before the wedding we had been worried about finding posed shots awkward but Andy made us feel very relaxed and gave us clear, easy to follow instructions. We enjoyed the couple’s photo shoot much more than we thought we would and had great fun with lots of laughter. We were delighted with the results.

KIND WORDS

Laura & Tom

Andy did the photography for our wedding in April 2022 and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The pictures are beautiful and really captured the day. Andy was great fun and kept us all happy and laughing throughout the day, whilst managing to effortlessly herd us all into shot- not an easy task. I highly recommend Andy as your wedding photographer. You won’t regret it.

KIND WORDS

Ley-Ann  & Matthew

Andy was absolutely amazing! Great craic, brilliant pictures, and understood exactly what we were looking for. We really cannot rate him high enough. He put us at ease very quickly, was so knowledgable, and was honestly just a great addition to our special day. Thank you so much Andy!

KIND WORDS

Tamara & Jamie

Andy was our photographer on 31 October, 2020. In a year of such uncertainty, where we did not even know if we would have a wedding, Andy was continually supportive, responsive, and flexible. Our venue changed three times, our numbers dwindled to just the pair of us, and the whole way through he remained encouraging and supportive. He even went above and beyond by stepping in as a witness for the occasion! His photographs are absolutely outstanding. He captured the day beautifully, and we look forward to him coming to our vow renewal ceremony in 2021!

Frequently Asked Questions

Blank

How do you describe your approach?

My approach is mainly hands-off, capturing moments as they happen in real time.  There are many moments of your day that are far better photographed as they happen, rather being interrupted by your photographer.  Essentially, portraits and group photos are the only times when I need to make things happen and position people properly.  Everything else, like signing the register and cutting the cake, can be photographed as it happens with no direction.

Couple portrait sessions are always light-hearted and fun.  Sometimes they are animated and energetic, and other times softer, quieter and romantic.  Either way my goal is always to capture something natural, either before, during and/or after any setup.  With simple, easy positioning and an emphasis on beautiful lighting, capturing the in-between moments.  That’s key for me – to always be clicking away.  Then when it comes to the selection process, I can carefully and considerately choose the natural images and deliver honest photographs you’ll love.

How would you describe your editing style?

Every photographer has their own editing style, which plays a massive part in how your photographs look.  Of course the shooting style is important, but the final look and editing style is just as important.  I take pride in my editing style, with every image supplied to you carefully selected and edited, one at time.   I aim for a timeless style and avoid passing trends.  I like light, bright and airy with solid blacks.    I also like the grass to be green and the sky to be blue, oddly enough!   Not in an over saturated way, but true to the scene.  There is a tendency to give an ‘Instagram’ look to photos but it’s not for me.  If you received your photos and you want to add a filter, feel free.  Just don’t tag me 😊.  I might be a little precious about my craft and wince a little, but they are your photographs too.

Do we get to keep our photographs?

Yes. The final sets of high resolution digital photographs are presented to you in a password protected online gallery where you can view and download your wedding photgoraphs, with a license to make copies and prints.  Copyright ownerships remains with Andy Taylor Photography and they cannot be used commercially.

Can we supply you with a list of photographs?

I always ask for a formal family group shot list or around 8-10 family groups that are taken after the ceremony. However,  please note I do not require a list of ‘photographs’ as it is counterproductive to my natural approach as the majority of my time would be taken up going through that list and so many real time moments would be missed.  Only your essentially ‘must have’ group photographs are required.  I do take lots of informal group photos both pre-ceremony and throughout the day, that involve as many (hopefully all) of your guests in these photos for a comprehensive coverage.

How many photographs do we receive?

The actual number of images supplied depends on many factors but generally speaking you can expect around 400 images for a full day coverage.  Smaller midweek weddings requiring less time would receive fewer photographs.

How long do you stay?

As standard I offer a full day photography coverage (maximum 10 hours) covering everything from morning preparation to evening celebrations.  For smaller midweek weddings (Monday-Thursday)  I offer 3, 6 or 10 hour coverage times.

We have to cancel our wedding. Can we have our deposit back?

I’m afraid not. The deposit guarantees I will hold the date exclusively for you and once you’ve signed the booking form, I turn away any additional enquiries.

The Coronavirus pandemic is/was a unique situation and during lockdown, when weddings could not go ahead or guest numbers were heavily restricted, I worked with every couple to secure a new date with no additional fees.  Anyone couple whose wedding I could not photograph, were fully refunded.  Unless there is another lockdown, the deposit is non-refundable or transferable.

What is the turn around time after our wedding?

I aim to have your final set of photographs edited, online and posted out to you around 4-6 weeks after your wedding.  If you purchase an album the first draft design will be ready then also.  If you want to buy an album after your wedding, the first draft design will be ready to view 4 weeks after payment has been received.  It is then up to you to get back to me with your requested design changes.  Once the design has been finalised turn around time for album deliver is 4-6 weeks.

We are not sure if we'd like an album at this stage. Can we confirm this at a later date?

Yes. At the booking stage there is a completed booking form and £300 deposit required to secure me as your photographer. Optional extras such as albums and engagement shoots can be booked at a later stage

Can you hold our date?

I’m afraid not.  I can only reserve your date when a completed booking form and deposit has been paid.  To be fair to everyone I work on a first come first served basis.

How do we book you as our photographer?

The first port of call would be to email me through the contact page on my website and request my price guide. Ideally we would meet to discuss your wedding plans and ideas. If a get-together isn’t possible then I always recommend we have chat over the phone or via Skype. After that it’s a simple case filling out a booking form and returning it to me with a £300 deposit. When I have received both I’ll email you a booking confirmation and a proposed schedule for photography as per our discussion.

What is the payment schedule?

After paying the £300 deposit the remaining balance is due two weeks before your wedding.
